Perth Beaches

Cottesloe Beach - it's the perfect spot for a swim, surf or snorkel. Cottesloe's crystal clear waters, regular swell and fun atmosphere make it popular with swimmers, body-boarders and surfers. Nearby rocks and reefs provide good areas for snorkelling. The Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club regularly monitors the beach and conditions, making sure surfers and swimmers are safe.

Scarborough Beach - is a firm favourite for teens and young adults. The regular swell, impressive surf breaks and long stretch of white sand attract swimmers, surfers, body-boarders. Scarborough Beach is also popular for kite surfing and wind surfing, especially when the afternoon sea breeze is in. Surf Life Savers are regularly on patrol at Scarborough Beach, ensuring the safety of the public.

City Beach - Two purpose-built groynes offer excellent fishing and also provide safe swimming for the whole family, while surfers regularly hit the waves just out to sea. City Beach offers beautifully landscaped recreational areas with a children's playground, barbecues and picnic tables, as well as toilets, change rooms and outside showers.

Floreat - The beach has a very delightful small park with green lawns, plenty of seating and lighting. Public toilets, changing facilities and showers are also available. The Floreat Surf Life Saving Club monitor the beach regularly during summer.

Trigg - Where shifting sand banks over rocky ledges creates powerful surf. On a warm summer's day, Trigg Island beach swarms with surfers and boogie boarders making the most of the reef break just offshore. Inshore, swimmers enjoy the turquoise water and pure white sand. Spend some time relaxing at Trigg and you might spot bottlenose dolphins out to sea. As well as swimming and surfing, Trigg Island also offers great beach fishing and bird watching. The beach's rocky lime-stone outcrop is home to pied cormorants, silver gulls, as well as crested and fairy terns. Trigg Island beach features grassed areas with barbecues, a kiosk, restaurant and public change rooms. Surf Life Savers are regularly on patrol making sure surfers and swimmers are safe.

Mettams Pool is located on a very popular cycle track that connects Sorrento Beach and Trigg Island. It is an ideal area for dry and wet reef exploration, while the sheltered rock pool is ideal for families and elderly swimmers. This sheltered pool is a good family spot ideal for the first time snorkeller or for introducing children to snorkelling as it is less than two metres deep inside the pool. Disabled access and public toilets are available.

Sorrento Beach offers excellent family swimming. Here, turquoise water laps against pure white sand, making it an idyllic spot for a relaxing afternoon of beach fun. There's a surf life saving club, grassed areas to enjoy a picnic, as well as a kiosk, car park and change rooms. The calm, deep-blue water is perfect for snorkelling and paddling.
